The original Portal was all about placing portals on different walls so that you could jump from place to place. The antics of Atlas and P-body have been compared to Laurel and Hardy, which is a favorable comparison if you are too young to know what a Laurel or Hardy is. Players will take control of two playful robots named Atlas and P-body, who have to work together to solve more of GLaDOS's challenging puzzles using two sets of portals. This mode is completely independent from the single player mode, housing its own set of puzzles and sequences for you and a friend to tackle either online or via split screen. In addition to the single player story, a five- to six-hour co-op mode will be available. As players journey further into the Aperture facility they will run across more of the Rat Man’s handiwork, and will hopefully learn about the fate of this elusive character. Having witnessed GLaDOS' defeat at the hands of Chell, the Rat Man draws a series of hieroglyphics that detail the events of the first Portal, which will act as a refresher for those starting Portal 2. This unseen character’s handiwork makes a return in Portal 2. These writings belonged to a character named Rat Man. Those who played the first Portal may have stumbled across a series of rooms featuring the insane scribbling of a fellow testee. In the words of GLaDOS, "I think we can put our differences behind us. In order to escape, Chell will have to find a way to combat GLaDOS’s near omniscient control of the facility, take advantage of a few new scientific experiments, and discover the true history of Aperture Science. Wheatley, a charmingly idiotic personality sphere, helps Chell navigate the facility, but the duo accidentally reboots the malevolent AI system GLaDOS, who immediately sends Chell into deadly testing chambers. Players assume the role of Chell, the protagonist from the original Portal, and begin exploring the Aperture Science facility, which is now overrun with wildlife after being abandoned and dormant for decades. Now, after escaping from Aperture science, players are dragged back into the facility by a party escort robot.Īt the beginning of Portal 2, players wake up from an undefined length of hibernation. However, Valve released an update to the Steam version of the game last year that altered the ending somewhat. Those who played the first Portal know that you narrowly escaped the Aperture Science facility after defeating GLaDOS. After that you’ll have a lot of science to perform, so you better get briefed on everything you should expect from Valve’s next release now. ![]() I really enjoyed replaying this classic, can't wait to see which one I play next.Portal 2 comes out on April 19. Portal 2 is one of those games I tag in my mind as a classic and as such will come back and replay it every couple years. Then again, when I have my Steam Machine the save game sync problem should be resolved. ![]() My only gripe about the whole endeavor was that the games load screens were slightly annoying(an issue only on the console version) and that my saves didn't sync with my Steam version. The Playstation 3 version of Portal 2 needed a few updates but after that process I was up and running. Since Portal 2 isn't a twitch shooter I don't mind the casual nature of playing it on a console. ![]() Some games were meant to be played sitting on the couch with a controller and in my opinion, Portal 2 is such a game. For comparison I loaded up the game on my Mac and even though the Mac version looks considerably better, the Playstation 3 version didn't disappoint. I figured the game would look a bit dated on the Playstation 3 but Valve's look for Portal 2 is beautiful in 720p. Simmons as Cave Johnson the game is full of amazing moments and great character pieces. Featuring a talented voice cast consisting of Ellen McLain as GlaDOS, Stephen Merchant as Wheatley and J.K. From the start, Portal 2 is an engrossing dystopian tale where you wake up after countless years to a Aperture Science facility in ruins. For quite some time i've wanted to relive some Valve classics and on a lark, I decided to pop in my PS3 disc and give it a spin. I just completed Portal 2 after playing it over a few sessions this weekend.
